Style Challenge: Fit Style Meets Street Style at Athleta!

Would you believe February is just two days off? That's crazy. Were not we only celebrating Christmas like past week? Anyway, with all the new year comes New Year's Resolutions, and also for many of us becoming fit is on that list of intentions for 2014. People who've been reading TFND for some time understand that is a constant struggle for me. I do nicely until things go bonkers at work, which I could rely at least on two times per year around the time of my job semi-annual conference. The blend of extended work days and traveling gets me each time! As I'm looking through images in the last month or so, I'm discovering that my lips are sounding a little extra chipmunky, which is a sure-fire sign that it is time to get busy!

With that said, the Athleta Fit Style Meets Street Style Challenge is right now! I did an article together with Athleta last year roughly fitting fitness into your busy life, and one of the things I mentioned helps is investing in super cute, quality clothes for the gym. When your gym clothes are only as lovely as the street clothes, you won't mind throwing them to conduct all your errands before or after the fitness center. Well, for this particular challenge we're taking things a bit farther, and showing you how to style your gym clothing for the road indeed!

I started out using Retreat Chaturanga Tights and a Back to Basics Seamless Tank to my match style look. These tights are excellent for transitioning from fit fashion to street style. The impartial colorway and publish really give them the expression of a fantastic pair of leggings. And, okay. I'll confess that I don't usually advocate wearing leggings as pants, but exercise equipment gets a pass if it helps you get to the gym! Lol.dmit that I don’t usually advocate wearing leggings as pants, but workout gear gets a pass if it helps you get to the gym! Lol.

For my street style look, I took my hair down and layered on the French Terry Sharkbite Top in light coral. I really loved the coral with the brown! I swapped out my Nikes for a pair of burgundy combat boots, and voila! I had a look that was still sporty, but totally fit for running errands or even grabbing lunch with friends. (And, if you have SUPER casual office environment like mine…you could even wear this look to work. I mean we can wear shorts and flip-flops, so gym clothes are totally acceptable…especially, when they’re this cute!)
